Kenner, who was drafted by the Chicago White Sox out of high school but opted to enroll at Long Island, collected six hits and scored four runs in his debut series for the Blackbirds. The rookie infielder produced a 6-for-15 (.400) clip at the plate with 2 RBI and drew four walks over four games at Virginia Commonwealth. After VCU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in game two of the series, Kenner singled and came around to score the Blackbirds’ first run of the 4-3 comeback victory. Starting at shortstop and batting second for the fourth consecutive game, the right-handed-hitting freshman reached base four times (2-3, 2 BB) and scored twice in the series’ finale, a 12-11 setback.
