Smith added her name to Sacred Heart’s long list of qualifiers for the ECAC Championships thanks to posting a new personal record at the Tufts University Indoor Stampede. The freshman weight thrower finished first in a 28-competitor field by unleashing a bomb of 16.17m (53-0.75), which stands more than four feet greater than her previous personal best. Smith’s mark exceeds the ECAC qualifying standard by 17 centimeters and ranks her second overall in the NEC behind teammate Jamie Kilis.
