Mahlung became the lone freshman, and one of three LIU Blackbirds, to rank amongst the NEC’s top-five competitors for the 60-meter dash. His third-place time (6.96) at the annual Metropolitan Indoor Championships sits fourth on the NEC’s performance list and qualifies Mahlung for the IC4A Championships. He is the second Long Island athlete this season to claim Road Runner Sports NEC Rookie honors.
