Boyd earns his league-leading fourth Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week award of the season after averaging 15.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week for Long Island. Boyd scored a career-high 18 points in just 24 minutes in a 69-63 setback at Quinnipiac on Saturday, including a run of nine straight points over a four-plus minute span in the second half to keep LIU within striking distance. He gave LIU its last lead at 54-52 on a dunk and later tied it at 55-55 with a foul shot. Boyd played a career-high 33 minutes in a wild 91-88 double overtime win over Fairleigh Dickinson two days earlier, tallying 13 points and nine rebounds. The San Antonio, TX product helped LIU erase a six-point deficit in the first overtime with a pair of dunks to bookend a 6-0 run for the Blackbirds. Boyd, whose four Rookie accolades are the most in the conference since Saint Francis (PA)'s Devin Sweetney was honored on four occasions in 2006-07, is averaging 9.3 points and 5.6 boards, and leads the team with 52.3 percent accuracy from the floor.
