Gaines produced the conference’s fastest hurdles performance this season on her way to a third straight Road Runner Sports NEC Women’s Rookie of the Week award. The first-year Blackbird completed the 55-meter hurdles in 8.15 at the BU Terrier Classic. The ECAC qualifying mark extends her NEC lead in the event after placing her second amongst collegians at the meet, behind only UConn’s Phylicia George. Gaines used the Beantown venue to improve her 200-meter time too, finishing in 25.64, a mark that ranks fourth in the NEC.
