Mutekanga posted a staggering 500-800 double at the BU Terrier Classic to claim the Northeast Conference lead in both events as well as the Road Runner Sports NEC Track Athlete of the Week award. The Long Island mid-distance runner was the meet’s second-place finisher in the 500-meter race (1:02.65) and was the sixth to clock in for the 800-meter run (1:51.27). Both performances well exceed the qualifying standards for the IC4A Championships. The weekly NEC honor is the first this season for Mutekanga who won the final two track awards of 2008 indoor campaign.
