Hazen ends Monmouth shot putter Vincent Elardo’s two-week run as Road Runner Sports NEC Field Athlete of the Week after overtaking the Hawk for the conference lead in his signature event. Hazen put the shot farther than any NEC athlete this season while competing at the Penn State Relays. His winning throw of 16.41m (53-10.25) was 29 centimeters better than runner-up Blake Eaton of the host Nittany Lions.
