Johnson becomes the first RMU Colonial since reigning NEC Player of the Year Sade Logan (Feb. 11, 2008) to claim a weekly conference award. The junior forward averaged 26.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game over two Preseason WNIT consolation contests against formidable opponents. Johnson came within one point and one three-pointer of Colonials’ single-game records against Missouri Valley Conference consensus preseason favorite Illinois State. Johnson scored 37 points on a 13-of-24 shooting sample that includes an 8-for-12 clip from downtown against the defending MVC champs. One day earlier, Johnson notched her first career double-double against Ball State, totaling 16 points and 11 rebounds in an 85-81 loss to the Mid-American Conference West Division preseason favorites.
