Palmer followed up the double-double debut that landed her last week’s NEC Rookie award by notching two more of the sort this past week. The freshman forward averaged 19.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in powering Long Island to two victories. Her efficient 24-of-39 (.615) shooting clip included a number of key makes down the stretch of both wins. On her way to 18 points and seven rebounds in 23 minutes against Saint Peter’s, Palmer nailed her only three-point attempt of the night to increase LIU’s lead to four with 1:30 remaining. She scored seven points on 3-of-3 shooting during the final 2:32 of the 64-60 win over the Peahens. Her steal and subsequent layup with 7:05 remaining against Columbia gave Long Island its first lead of the second half at 47-46. Palmer finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals in 35 minutes of the 58-55 victory over the Lions. Palmer's third double-double in four games was almost enough to propel the Blackbirds to a perfect three-victory week. She posted a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds to go with five steals in a 63-61 defeat to Texas State in the final game of Columbia’s Tyler Ugolin Classic.
