In a season that has been full of phenomenal freshmen performances throughout the Northeast Conference, Kayla Jones makes it three straight occasions on which one individual claimed both the NEC Bowler and Rookie of the Week awards. Jones captures her second such honor this season by unseating last week’s top bowler and rookie Vicky Alaimo of Saint Peter’s. Helping Kutztown to a 5-1 record at the first-ever Northeast Conference meet, Jones dominated during traditional team play by averaging a meet-best 219 (1314 total pinfall) over six games. Across both traditional and baker games, the KU rookie struck 58 percent of the time and filled 87.5 percent of her frames. Jones posted a high game of 247 for the weekend in a victory over Long Island. She was at the center of dealing No. 6 Sacred Heart one of the two losses it incurred. Jones rolled a score of 239 in traditional play against the Pioneers before anchoring the Bears’ lineup in baker play during the 1984-1768 victory.
