Palmer exploded onto the scene during Long Island’s season-opening loss at La Salle, notching a huge double-double of 30 points and 16 rebounds in her record-setting collegiate debut. The freshman forward set Long Island records for both points and rebounds in a debut by eclipsing the 20-point performance of Kim Mac Millan (1999) and Chelsea Ferguson’s 12 rebounds (1992). Shooting 14-of-23 from the field, Palmer nailed two of her three attempts from three-point land and was one field goal make shy of Dawn Coleman’s single-game program record from January 13, 1996. She also made three steals and logged two assists in 37 minutes of action.
