The nation’s leading goal scorer is the recipient of his third Brine/NEC Player of the Week award of the year and sixth of his career after helping lead the Bobcats to a 1-0-1 mark on its swing through Western Pennsylvania last week and remain in contention for an NEC Tournament berth. In a 1-1 draw at Robert Morris on Friday, Brito sent a pass to Shane Recklet who touched in a shot from ten yards away for the equalizer in the 80th minute. Two days later, he scored both goals in a 2-0 win at Saint Francis (PA). Brito collected a ball from keeper Frederick Hall, split two defenders and scored on a breakaway from ten yards out in the 57th minute for the first goal of the match. He also tallied with just 13 seconds remaining when he shot it past the Red Flash keeper, who had come out to challenge Brito after he slipped into the box. The Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde product boosted his league-leading totals to 16 goals and 35 points, and elevated his career marks to 38 goals and 88 points. In last week’s NCAA statistics, Brito was tied with FDU’s Samson Malijani for first in the nation with 1.0 goals per game. He also ranked third nationally with 2.14 points per outing. In NEC play, Brito is tied for first with 17 points and ranks second with seven markers.
