Landers retains the NEC Defensive Player of the Week award following a second consecutive big-play performance in a Colonials’ NEC victory. A week after he recovered two fumbles and returned one for a touchdown, the junior safety made one of his eight tackles for a loss, intercepted a pass, and broke up three others in Robert Morris’ 27-14 triumph over Central Connecticut State. On a pivotal third-and-1 second-quarter play, Landers dropped CCSU’s James Mallory for a loss of three yards to set the stage for the Colonials’ go-ahead (14-7) touchdown on the ensuing drive. With Robert Morris clinging to a 21-7 early fourth-quarter lead and CCSU in the red zone, Landers made two key plays to turn the Blue Devils away empty-handed. After his hit on Josue Paul in the end zone prevented a TD grab, Landers and linebacker Alex DiMichele stuffed CCSU QB Hunter Wanket on a fourth-and-goal from the one. He also intercepted Wanket on CCSU’s opening second-half drive.
