After a seven-point weekend that helped the Blackbirds go 2-0 and secure the title of NEC Regular Season Champion as well as the No. 1 seed in the NEC Championship Tournament, Calderon receives her first spot on the league’s weekly honor roll this season. The freshman forward notched a goal and an assist in a win over Mount St. Mary’s on Oct. 31. Calderon proceeded to score the equalizer against Monmouth and added an insurance marker later in the contest to help LIU cap an unbeaten Conference slate in 2008. Calderon leads the team with 10 goals and 22 points, which both rank second on LIU’s single-season lists and are new records for LIU rookies.
