In earning College Soccer News National Player of the Week honors and winning his second straight Brine/NEC Player of the Week accolade, Malijani continued his torrid scoring spree with four more goals as Fairleigh Dickinson stretched its unbeaten streak to seven (5-0-2) and assumed first place in the NEC with a pair of victories. Malijani registered his second career hat trick in the Knights’ 3-2 win over Saint Francis (PA) on Friday, then followed up by scoring the game’s lone goal in the 42nd minute in a 1-0 conquest of Robert Morris on Sunday. He has now scored a goal in ten straight matches (13 over that stretch), including the team’s last eight markers and ten of the last 11. Malijani’s goal scoring streak is tied for the ninth longest in NCAA Division I history - matching Tulsa’s Jimmy Dowell (1994) - and is the longest since then-Virginia star Alecko Eskandarian found the back of the netting in 11 straight matches during the 2002 season. Hailing from Lusaka, Zambia, Malijani is now second in the NEC with 13 goals and 29 points and ranked 10th in points per game and 12th in goals per game in last week’s NCAA statistics. He has tallied a league-best eight goals and 17 points in just five NEC contests to boost his career totals to 30 goals, nine assists and 69 points in two-plus seasons with the Knights.
