Russ was the epitome of durability, grit, and effectiveness in carrying Robert Morris past rival Duquesne in the latest installment of the Steel City Showdown. Before a NEC-TV audience in the league’s featured game of the week, the sophomore tailback pounded out the sixth-highest rushing total (246 yards) in the history of NEC play on a program-record 37 carries.  Sixteen of those carries resulted in either a touchdown or a first down.  Russ, who scored on runs of 51 and 18 yards, moved the chains 14 times to account for nearly half of Robert Morris’ single-game record 29 first downs.  Running for more than 120 yards in each of the past three games, twice eclipsing 200 yards, Russ is only the second Colonial ever with two 200-yard performances in a season.
