Allen picked up her first Brine/NEC Defensive Player of the Week honor as she played an integral part in the Blackbird defense last week while LIU notched a pair of wins in conference play. Allen led a defensive unit that held Sacred Heart to just two shots on target in a victory on Oct. 10, and followed that performance by allowing Fairleigh Dickinson just four shots on goal on Oct. 12. The senior defender also contributed to the Blackbirds’ offensive output as she notched three assists, including the game-winning helpers in both games. Allen has accrued a team-high six assists, which is also tied for first in the league. The Massachusetts native helped Long Island improve to 9-3-1 overall and 3-0 in the NEC as the Blackbirds stand in a tie for first place in the league and hold the best goals against average (0.91), allowing 12 goals in 13 games.
