After collecting Brine/NEC Rookie of the Week recognition the past two weeks, Velaj earned her third nod on the weekly honor roll as the Brine/NEC Player of the Week. The rookie forward, who, as of Sept. 28, ranked second in the nation in points per game (3.00) and first in goals per game (1.500), scored three goals after the 80th minute to propel the Bobcats to a come-from-behind double-overtime victory, 4-3, at Robert Morris on Oct. 3 in opening round action of conference play. The Connecticut native tallied her first marker of the game with less than 10 minutes to go when she ran onto a through ball and squeezed a close shot from the left side just inside the near post. Just over two minutes later, Velaj rook a pass from teammate Kristina Del Mistro and deposited it over the keeper from 30 yards out to knot the score at three. Velaj registered the golden goal in the 107th minute from atop the 18-yard box. The hat trick gave the rookie forward 12 goals in just seven games this season, as she leads the team and the league in scoring with 24 points.
