Brito claims his second Brine/NEC Player of the Week award this season and fifth of his career after scoring four of the Bobcats’ six goals in a 1-1 week. Trailing by a goal against Holy Cross (ranked #3 in the NSCAA Middle Atlantic region) on Tuesday, the 2007 NEC Player of the Year knotted the game at 1-1 in the 76th minute. He tallied the game winner five minutes later, splitting a pair of defenders before sliding the ball under the Crusader keeper to clinch a 2-1 victory. Quinnipiac fell behind by two goals against #16 Loyola (MD) on Saturday, but it was Brito who cut the lead in half by spinning around a Greyhound defender and firing a shot high into the net in the 30th minute. Down 4-1 late in the game, the Bobcats pulled to within 4-2 on an own goal in the 75th minute, then made it a one-goal affair when Fabricio Silva hit a streaking Brito, who blasted the ball into the lower right corner of the netting in the 79th minute. The Bobcats scored the equalizer with 1:05 left to play, but their hopes of an upset were dashed when Loyola netted the game-winner with 31 seconds remaining to account for the 5-4 final score. Brito, a native of Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde, now leads the NEC with nine goals and 18 points. The Hermann Trophy candidate pushed his career totals to 31 goals and 71 points.
