Babic, an unprecedented five-time Player of the Week last year, picks up her second NEC weekly honor of the young season. After a strong season-opening showing at Stony Brook, Babic made it through to the semifinal round in the top flight of the Army Women’s Invitational. Seeded fourth in the 32-player draw, Babic advanced further than any of the four Northeast Conference athletes to contest the No. 1 flight. Following a first round bye, the second-year Blackbird defeated Niagara’s Hillary Hansen (6-2, 6-2) and Stony B rook’s Katherine Hanson (6-3, 6-2) in straight sets. After splitting the first two sets, Babic dropped the deciding tiebreaker, 10-6, to No. 2 seed Army’s Anne Houghton.
