Babic, an unprecedented five-time Player of the Week last year, returns to the league’s weekly Honor Roll by virtue of her season-opening performance at this past weekend’s Stony Brook Invitational. The junior Blackbird encountered little difficulty in winning each of the two No. 1 singles matches she contested. Babic defeated freshman Erin McCarthy of defending MAAC champion Marist, 6-1, 6-1, and Southern Miss’ Dutch rookie Elja van Berlo, 6-3, 6-2. Babic and sophomore teammate Dara Lahens went 3-1 in doubles’ play at Stony Brook, posting victories over duos from Alabama-Birmingham, Southern Miss., and Marist.
