After earning a spot on the NEC weekly honor roll five times as a freshman last year, Caggiano claims Brine/NEC Player of the Week for the first time in 2008 after helping the Colonials go 2-0 and win the UNLV Rebel Classic. The sophomore forward had a foot in every goal over the weekend, finishing with seven points on three goals and an assist. Caggiano now leads the team with 10 points (four goals, two assists). The Moon Township native tallied both scores in a 2-1 win over 25th-ranked host UNLV on Friday, Sept. 19 to help RMU hand the Rebels their first loss in 12 home games. Caggiano then tallied the game's opening goal and assisted on the game-winner in a 2-1 victory against Idaho on Sunday. Caggiano has either scored of provided the helper on six of the team's nine goals this season.
