Coles revealed play-making ability during his first collegiate action, amassing 131 all-purpose yards in helping Sacred Heart double up Assumption, 42-21. With Sacred Heart trailing by seven at halftime, the freshman running back jump-started the Pioneers’ attack by opening the second half with a 43-yard kickoff return that placed the ball on the opposition’s 39-yard line and set up the game-tying touchdown. Coles broke through for his first collegiate touchdown later in the third quarter when he sprung off-tackle for 68 yards and a 28-14 Pioneers’ lead. He tallied 82 rushing yards on four carries and made one reception for a six-yard gain.
