Brito, the 2007 NEC Player of the Year, picked up right where he left off, scoring two goals in Quinnipiac’s season-opening 3-1 win at Iona on Friday. In capturing the fourth Brine/NEC Player of the Week award of his career, Brito tied the game at 1-1 in the 56th minute when he dribbled past two defenders from 30 yards out and beat the Iona keeper with a shot to the lower left corner of the net. With the Bobcats nursing a one-goal lead, he slipped behind the defense to hammer home a Rodrigo Uchoa feed with just over five minutes remaining in the match. Brito, who ranked second in the NEC with 12 goals a year ago, has now tallied 24 times in his Quinnipiac career.
