O’Hara’s complete-game shutout of first-place Monmouth kept Fairleigh Dickinson within striking distance of Mount St. Mary’s for the final spot in the four-team Northeast Conference Tournament. The senior southpaw derailed Monmouth’s chances of a four-game sweep when he held the Hawks to three hits over 7.0 dominant innings of work during the second half of Saturday’s twin bill. In picking up the 2-0 victory, O’Hara struck out seven Monmouth batters while walkling only two. O’Hara joined East Carolina’s Justin Bristow as the only pitcher to shut out the NEC’s top team in batting average and runs scored this season.
