Etkin had a part in producing 25 runs during over a five-game span this past week. Going 12-for-22 (.545) at the plate, the senior backstop drove in 14 runs and scored another 11. After a three-for-five performance that included two RBI and two runs scored during a mid-week win over Saint Peter’s, Etkin used his hot bat to drive in a program-record nine runs in Long Island’s series opener against Fairleigh Dickinson. During the 27-9 LIU triumph, the veteran catcher stroked two doubles and two homers as part of a five-for-six day at the plate. Three of his seven extra-base hits were of the long ball variety.
