Higgins became the fastest player in Monmouth’s history to join the 200-hit club while powering the Hawks to a five-win week. Going 12-for-26 (.462) with seven RBI at the plate for the week, the senior shortstop hit his way on base and came around to score a run in each of Monmouth’s first five games during the interval. Higgins, who accrued a .464 on-base percentage, scored six runs on the week, one of which provided some much-needed insurasnce in the sixth inning of the Hawks’ 9-8 victory over CCSU on Saturday. The middle infielder, who slugged .731 with two home runs and a double, battered opposing pitchers during Monmouth’s two mid-week wins. He reached base in each of his five plate appearances, including four hits, in aan 8-3 win over Rider. In a 12-5 rout of Saint Peter’s, he drove in four runs.
