Kemp captures her second Akadema/NEC Rookie of the Week award this season after helping the Blackbirds to a 6-0 record on the week. The Scottsdale, AZ native hit .500 with 10 hits, eight runs scored, five RBIs, a double, a triple and a home run. Kemp’s first career home run, a three-run, inside-the-park roundtripper, gave the Blackbirds a 7-6 lead in game one of a doubleheader against Sacred Heart. Her first career triple came with two outs in the eighth inning of LIU’s nightcap with the Pioneers. She would come around to score the game-winning run on teammate Mariesha Marker’s base hit. Kemp currently leads the team with 26 runs scored, while her .339 average ranks second.
