Vittek needed two home runs to become the Mount’s all-time Home Run King entering the week, and the senior first baseman hit four as part of a monster week at the plate. Vittek, who has 31 career homers, batted .455 (10-of-22) with six extra-base hits, 14 runs batted in, five runs scored, and two walks over six starts. The veteran first baseman broke the Mount St. Mary’s home run record by connecting on a two-run shot in a mid-week affair at Maryland. Vittek drove in two runs in each of the first three games of the Mount’s four-game weekend series with Central Connecticut State. After a two-run single in a series-opening 9-8 victory, Vittek went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in a 5-3, game two triumph.
