The 2008 NEC Indoor Championships’ Most Valuable Performer set Wagner’s long jump record and qualified for the ECAC Championships during her first competition of the outdoor season. Alfano significantly out jumped the field by registering a winning mark of 5.97 (19’ 7"), which stands only three centimeters short of the NCAA Regional standard. The long jump runner-up at last year’s NEC Outdoor title meet broke her own program record of 5.96m (19’ 6.50") from 2006.
