McDonnell had at least one hit in every game of Wagner’s four-game season-opening series at Florida International. The right-handed hitting right fielder delivered his biggest blow of the weekend in the ninth inning of the Seahawks’ 13-11 comeback victory over the Panthers. McDonnell crushed a three-run homer to spark a seven-run frame that completed Wagner’s rally from nine down. The sophomore slugger touched home plate on three other occasions during an opening weekend that saw him finish 6-for-15 with six runs batted in, four runs scored, and a mammoth .933 slugging percentage.
