Porter quickly established herself as one of the Blackbirds’ top pitchers after recording Long Island’s first ever 10-inning no-hitter in a 3-0 win over Kent State. The Redmond, WA native, who finished the day with a career-high and single-game school record 16 strikeouts, took a perfect game into the eighth inning and allowed just two baserunners to reach in just her second start of the season. The sophomore, who also recorded a streak of 17 consecutive hitless innings through her first three starts, helped guide the Blackbirds through a grueling West Coast roadtrip that saw LIU face three nationally ranked teams in #4 Arizona, #14 Hawaii and #23 Cal State-Fullerton. She finished the week 2-3 with 35 strikeouts and a 2.00 ERA, while holding opponents to a .211 batting average.
