Porter’s outstanding effort in Wagner’s 83-75 overtime victory at Mount St. Mary’s on Thursday lands him his second Choice Hotels NEC Player of the Week award of the season and third of his career. He tallied 25 points, eight rebounds, six assists, a steal and a key block as Wagner came back from a 19-point deficit to win for the fourth time in the last five games and remain just one game out of first place with a 9-2 NEC record. Porter, who hit 6-12 shots from the floor and was 11-13 from the line, rejected Will Holland’s shot at the buzzer in regulation to preserve the tie. He scored 18 of his 25 points after intermission, including eight in overtime. The Atlantic City native’s three-pointer with 1:17 to play in the extra session gave the Seahawks a seven-point lead. Porter currently ranks in the NEC top-10 in five categories: assists (3rd, 5.4 apg), scoring (5th, 15.7 ppg), blocks (5th, 0.9 bpg), steals (1.8 spg) and assist-to-turnover ratio (8th, 1.42:1). He has moved up to 13th on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,417 career points, which is also third among active league competitors. Porter's 470 career assists ranks second among active NEC players and sixth all-time at Wagner.
