Zajac joins teammate Evann Baker as Choice Hotels/NEC Rookie of the Week award winners this season after sparking Quinnipiac’s 92-88 double overtime win at Lehigh on Wednesday. Zajac established a pair of personal-bests with 17 points and 15 rebounds in his first-career double-double performance. He grabbed nine of those boards on the offensive end, and hit 7-10 shots from the floor and 3-3 from the line in a 41-minute stint off the bench. The 15 rebounds were the most by an NEC freshman since UMBC’s Andrew Feeley corralled 15 against Quinnipiac on December 6, 2001. Zajac, who hails from Lindenhurst, NY, is averaging 6.8 ppg and a team-high 8.4 rpg to rank second in the NEC in the category. He also leads the Bobcats with a 61.9 percent success rate from the floor.
