Following Saturday’s victory, Albany head coach Bob Ford simply said, "How about that performance by McCarty?!" The sophomore tailback rushed for a career-high 247 yards on 19 carries, powering the Great Danes to a 49-14 triumph over Central Connecticut State in the NEC title game. McCarty found paydirt twice and averaged 13.0 yards per carry en route to amassing the greatest single-game rushing total by a Great Dane in more than 30 years. Tom DeBlois’ 275-yard game against Springfield in 1975 is the only performance ahead of McCarty’s in the UA record book. After moving from receiver to tailback during the off-season, McCarty has already produced the third-best single-season rushing mark in Albany history with 1,369 yards.
