Brito, the nation’s scoring leader, took home Brine/NEC Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row and third time this season to lead unbeaten Quinnipiac (7-0-1) to a pair of road wins to open league play. With the Bobcats engaged in a scoreless battle at Sacred Heart on Friday, Brito took a feed from Danilo Schiavon and broke through the defense for the game’s lone goal in the 75th minute. On Sunday, the junior’s assist on a Schiavon marker in the 68th minute tied things up at 1-1 against Fairleigh Dickinson. Nine minutes later, Brito netted his second game-winner of the week, once again off a setup from Schiavon. Brito, who leads the NEC with 11 goals, three game-winners and 24 points, has now scored in seven straight matches. The native of Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde leads all Division I players with 1.4 gpg and 3.0 ppg. Brito was also named to College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the second time this season for his performance.
