Shaffer made a stellar debut for the Colonials, who opened their year with a 2-0 victory over local rival Duquesne and a 2-1 double overtime win at Canisius. Shaffer tallied two goals and an assist on the week to help lead Robert Morris to its best start since 1995. In his first career game on Friday, the Aliquippa, PA native sealed the win over the Dukes with a goal in the 72nd minute. Two days later, Shaffer set up Jacek Przednowek to give the Colonials a 1-0 edge over the Golden Griffins in the 23rd minute, then blasted the game winner from the top of the box with just 56 seconds remaining in double overtime.
