Testa saved his best for last, firing a two-hit shutout in Wagner’s 3-0 win over playoff-bound Monmouth in his final start of the season on Saturday. In claiming his second Akadema/NEC Pitcher of the Week award of the season, he faced just one batter over the minimum and matched a career-high with 12 strikeouts in seven innings without issuing a single free pass. Testa was dominant from the outset, retiring the first 12 batters he faced, including nine via strikeout as he fanned the side in the third and fourth innings. His 12 Ks boosted his NEC-leading total to 82 for the season and 228 for his career, both of which rank third in Wagner annals. It also marked the second time the Brick, NJ native has recorded double-digits in strikeouts this season and the fifth time in his career. Testa closed out the year with a 4-6 record and ranks sixth in the league with a 3.01 ERA. Against NEC opposition, he finished 4-3 with a conference-low 1.61 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 50.1 innings.
