Gress served as the catalyst in Quinnipiac’s four-game sweep of Sacred Heart that gave the Bobcats a share of the NEC regular season crown and the top seed in the upcoming NEC Tournament. In five games, he hit .444 with eight runs, eight RBI and two of the Bobcats’ 11 homers on the week. In a 9-8 setback at UMass on Tuesday, Gress went 2-5 with a home run, two runs scored and a pair of RBI. The Shelton, CT product finished 2-2 with two runs and two RBI on Friday as the Bobcats completed a doubleheader sweep of the Pioneers with a 13-2 triumph. The following afternoon, Gress hit a three-run shot - his league-leading 12th round tripper of the year - in a 2-4, three-RBI effort that led to a 9-7 conquest of Sacred Heart in game one of a twinbill. On the year, Gress is hitting .305 and ranks third in the NEC in slugging percentage (.586), fourth in runs scored (46), fifth in RBI (45) and eighth in total bases (102).
