Meyers’ torrid hitting continued last week in Monmouth’s four-game sweep of Sacred Heart that moved the Hawks to within one win of clinching a spot in the NEC Tournament for the ninth time in the last ten years. Meyers hit .375 with two doubles, two homers, five runs and eight RBI in five games as Monmouth established a new single-season school record with 31 victories. He went 2-4 with a doubles, homer and four RBI in a 10-1 victory in the series opener against the Pioneers, then knocked in three runs in the final game of the set to raise his season total to a league-leading 58 on the year. Meyers is ranked in the NEC top-five in no less than nine categories: RBI (58, first), on-base percentage (.484, first), total bases (113, first), batting average (.398, second), hits (72, second), walks (29, second), slugging percentage (.624, second), runs (43, fourth) and homers (a career-high nine, fifth). He makes it ten in the top-ten when adding in doubles (14, seventh). Meyers, who hails from Stratford, NJ, now has 19 homers, 40 doubles and 136 career RBI in his three years at the school.
