Stephens claims his fourth Prince/NEC Player of the Week award of the spring after posting a 6-7 (7-2), 6-0, 10-6 win over Louis Desmarteaux of St. John’s in a #1 singles match on Monday. Desmarteaux, a senior who was ranked ninth in the Northeast regionally in the fall, has posted a 39-9 record over the last two seasons and was named to the Big East All-Tournament team in 2006. Stephens is now 11-4 on the season, including 11-2 in dual meet play. He is the first four-time weekly award winner since UMBC’s Joe Novotny in 2002-03.
