Gianini tossed a complete-game shutout on Sunday as the Blue Devils downed Penn State, 2-0, in State College, PA. The southpaw scattered eight hits, struck out seven and issued just one free pass to claim his first victory of the season. He stranded the tying runners on base in the bottom of the ninth inning by forcing a popup to end the game. Gianini, who hails from West Haven, CT, did not face more than four batters in any inning until the ninth. His ERA dropped to 3.38 - tenth in the NEC - with the win.
