Youngblood claims his second straight Choice Hotels/NEC Rookie of the Week award and third of the season following another terrific week that saw him average 14.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.7 apg and shoot 87.5 percent from the line. He opened play by tying a season-high with 20 points - his third 20+ point scoring effort of the year - and added four rebounds, two assists and three steals in an 84-71 setback to Fairleigh Dickinson on Monday. Youngblood sparked a comeback from a 13-point second half deficit against first place Central Connecticut State on Thursday with all 15 of his points in the last 5:34 of the contest, but the Hawks ultimately fell short in a 70-65 defeat. In Saturday’s 61-60 win at Mount St. Mary’s that inched the Hawks closer toward an NEC Tournament berth, the freshman guard connected on the game-winning three-pointer with 17.7 seconds to play and finished the evening with nine points in 18 minutes. Youngblood, who hails from Newark, NJ, leads all NEC freshman in field goal percentage (.531; fifth overall) and ranks second in steals (1.7 spg; fourth overall) and points (12.0 ppg; 21st overall). He is also 16-29 (.552) from beyond the arc in league games to rank second in the conference in three-point shooting accuracy.
