After his standout play helped Central Connecticut State clinch its third NEC regular season title and top seed in the NEC Tournament, Nwadike becomes the third Blue Devil to earn Choice Hotels/NEC Player of the Week honors this season. He averaged 20.7 points, 11.7 rebounds and shot 52.6 percent from the floor as CCSU won two-of-three on the road. In an 80-66 victory over Sacred Heart on Monday, Nwadike hit 7-8 shots and finished with 18 points, 12 rebounds and three assists for his seventh straight double-double. Three days later, he tallied 13 of his 15 points in the second half and added six rebounds in the title-clincher as CCSU won its 12th straight game with a 70-65 victory over Monmouth. The win also snapped CCSU’s six-game losing streak at Boylan Gymnasium. Despite tying a career-high with 27 points and pulling down 17 rebounds - his NEC-best 15th double-double of the year and 37th of his career - the Blue Devil win streak came to an end on Saturday with a 66-60 defeat at Fairleigh Dickinson. The Jersey City, NJ native is the lone NEC player averaging a double-double this season with 14.6 ppg and a league-leading 10.6 rpg. Nwadike is also the only player in the nation ranked in the top-20 in rebounding - he currently stands seventh - who measures under 6’6" and the only one in the top-50 who isn’t at least 6’5" tall. He enters play this week ranked eighth on the NEC’s career rebounding chart with 915.
