Frye provided the offensive punch last week as the first place Pioneers earned their first ever sweep of its annual western Pennsylvania swing with an 84-82 win over Robert Morris on Thursday, followed by a 72-64 triumph over Saint Francis (PA) on Saturday. The senior swingman averaged 19.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals and shot 57.7 percent from the field and 8-9 from the charity stripe. In handing Robert Morris its first home defeat of the season, Frye recorded 14 of his 17 points in the second half as Sacred Heart rallied from an 11-point deficit to earn the two-point win. He shot 7-13 from the field, snared four rebounds and dished for four assists. He followed up with a game and season-high 22 points (8-13 FG) - including 14 after intermission - and added three rebounds, three assists and three steals against Saint Francis. Frye, who ranks ninth in the NEC in scoring at 13.3 ppg, boosted his career point total to 1,102, second among active NEC players. The Queens native also ranks fifth in the conference with 1.8 spg and needs just 33 rebounds to become the third player in the school’s Division I history to reach 500 career boards, joining Tim Welch (647) and Kibwe Trim (624).
