Giddings, a freshman defensive back, etched his name in the football record books, becoming the first player in college football history (I-A, I-AA) to return three fumbles in a game and first since Alvin Nnabuife of SMU in 2004 to return two for touchdowns. After a scoreless first quarter, Giddings put the homecoming crowd into a frenzy, picking up a fumble and racing seven yards for a touchdown with 10:52 left in the first half. Giddings struck again with 3:50 left in the half, scooping up a fumble and delighting the crowd of 6,688 with a terrific return down the sideline for a score. Late in the fourth quarter, the Ocean, NJ product halted the Great Danes’ attempt at a comeback, recovering another fumble in Albany territory. For the game, Giddings also collected two tackles.
