Hairston, I-AA’s leading rusher, had the game of his life in a 62-21 victory over Saint Francis (PA) on Saturday afternoon. Playing for just the second time at home this season, the senior set a school and conference record with 332 rushing yards and tied a school and NEC record with five touchdowns. Hairston rushed the ball only 23 times in the game for an astonishing 14.4 yards per carry average. The first two times the New Britain, CT native touched the ball he scored touchdowns. The first TD came from 62 yards and the second from 70, racking up 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns with less than four minutes elapsed in the game. Hairston rushed six times for 196 yards in the first quarter alone. The Rutgers transfer also scored three more times in the game (8, 1, 11). Hairston has now amassed 991 yards and 12 touchdowns in just six games, and is averaging 8.5 yards per carry on the season. The CCSU runner is only 422 shy of breaking the single season rushing mark at CCSU with five regular season games remaining. With the big game on Saturday, Hairston currently leads I-AA football in rushing (165.7 ypg) and all-purpose yards (215.0 ypg).
