Though only a freshman, Lopez has performed like a seasoned veteran this season for a Monmouth team that is unbeaten in its last seven matches and leads the NEC with a 3-0-1 league record. She claims dual honors as the Brine/NEC Player and Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after scoring twice on the road against CCSU on Sunday, including the game-winner on a left-footed, bending shot just inside the 18-yard box with 30 seconds remaining in the first overtime off an assist from Tanya Earl. Lopez had tallied the first goal of the match in the 39th minute on an unassisted strike from inside the box. The five time Rookie of the Week winner currently leads the NEC with six goals (tied with two others), nine assists and 21 points. Lopez, an Oakhurst, NJ product, also ranked third in the nation in assists per game in the latest NCAA statistics report. Her nine helpers are the most by a Monmouth player in a season since Jaime Kuhne totaled nine in 1998.
