Lopez claims her first Brine/NEC Player of the Week honor and second consecutive Brine/NEC Rookie of the Week accolade after registering a goal and an assist in Monmouth’s 2-1 win over Seton Hall on Friday. Lopez assisted on the Hawks’ first goal of the day, lifting a corner kick to the far box that was converted by classmate Shannon Rogers in the 42nd minute. The Oakhurst, NJ product proceeded to put the Hawks up 2-0 on an unassisted goal that saw her beat a Pirate defender off the dribble to create a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper. Just two games into her career, Lopez leads the NEC in goals (two), assists (three) and points (seven). Lopez is the first combined Player/Rookie of the Week award winner since FDU’s Tonya Hipsman earned dual honors on November 1, 2004.
