Burk posted a .391 batting average in her first seven collegiate games to garner the first Rookie of the Week selection of the 2006 season. The rookie shortstop went 4-for-8 with two doubles, a triple, three walks and three RBI in the George Washington Tournament. Against George Mason, Burk took matters into her own hands, ripping her first two collegiate homers, two runs scored and 5 RBI to lead the Mountaineers to a 9-6 win. Throughout the two tournaments, Burk posted nine hits, five runs scored, eight RBI, four doubles, one triple, two home runs and three walks.
